What actually happened to these trees in this landscape.

My Mango Journey

One Tree Never Tells the Whole Story

Mango has become one of the plants I have documented repeatedly in The Green Yard. Different trees, seasons, heat events, winter conditions, flowering cycles, and fruiting attempts have all added another piece to the story.

This page is designed to bring those moments together so the mango journey can be followed over time instead of being scattered across years of individual videos.

This Is a Plant Journey

This page documents what has happened in my Phoenix food forest. It is not meant to be a complete step-by-step mango growing manual. The videos, milestones, and observations below show the real story as it continues to unfold.

The Journey So Far

A Story Built Across Seasons

Each chapter pairs a major stage of the mango journey with a video documenting what was happening at that point in the story.

Early Journey

Planting & Establishment

The beginning of the documented mango journey and the early years of becoming established in the food forest.

Summer

Growing Through Phoenix Heat

Multiple summers add new observations about how individual mango trees respond as they become larger and more established.

Winter

Cold, Damage & Recovery

Winter conditions become another chapter in the journey, including how trees respond afterward and what growth returns.

Milestone

Flowering & Fruit

Flowering and fruiting provide another way to follow the maturity and changing performance of mango trees over time.

Today

The Journey Continues

New updates will be added as the trees grow, fruit, struggle, recover, and change in future seasons.

What I’ve Observed

Lessons That Keep Showing Up

These should stay high-level and observational. The goal is to share what the journey has revealed without turning the page into the full growing system that could eventually become part of paid education.

Tree Age Matters

Young mango trees and more established trees can respond very differently to the same Phoenix conditions.

Every Season Adds Context

One hot summer or one cold winter is only one chapter. The longer these trees are documented, the more useful the story becomes.

Location Changes the Experience

Trees growing only a short distance apart can experience noticeably different conditions within the same food forest.

Learn With The Green Yard

Want to Learn How I Approach Growing in Phoenix?

I’m developing classes built around years of growing tropical, subtropical, and traditional fruit trees in the Phoenix desert. The Plant Journeys show what happened. The future classes will go deeper into how I approach the process.

Phoenix Growing Classes

In-person and video-based learning options are being developed. More information will be added as those programs take shape.
